- You are right about the Askey Corp --- I'd meant to mention them in my
- original posting --- the manual does indeed (unlike many Taiwanese
- products) admit to their involvement.

- I had assumed that they manufactured on behalf of MR Inc. Are you saying
- that they are not the makers of Mr. Modems? If so, the suppliers
- would appear to be guilty of "passing off", a very severe offence under
- the Trades Description Act (and possibly under the Patents, Designs, and
- Copyrights Act as well).

- I've faxed Dave's reply through to the suppliers of the modem: there was
- a message on my answerphone this evening, saying that someone in their
- Technical Support would be calling me back, but I haven't yet had that
- second call.
